Profligate Bechem held to 0-0 draw by leaders Aduana

Bechem United squandered a host of chances as leaders Aduana FC happily left Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park with a 0-0 draw in the opening fixture of match-day 17 of the 2022/23 betPawa Ghana Premier League (GPL) on Friday.

Striker Hafiz Konkoni had the best chance of the first half but failed to make it count. A simple touch of the ball from close range was all he needed but he missed.

Desperate to score in the second half, Bechem tried to strike from distance through Francis Twene and substitute Emmanuel Annor. These efforts did not, however, trouble Yaw Ansah Fufuro, who was in post for Aduana.

Clinton Duodu was put through on goal in the 88th minute but facing Fufuro one-on-one, the winger disappointed the home fans with a feeble strike for the keeper to save.

Aduana looked like stealing the win in the next minute but for a brilliant timely tackle by Aaron Essel to dispossess striker Justus Torsutsey.

The game eventually ended in a barren stalemate after 8 minutes of additional time.

Aduana FC thus end the first round of the 2022/23 GPL with 32 points while Bechem United do the same with 27 points.

Bechem midfielder Kwadwo Seth won the man-of-the-match award.
