2023 AfconQ: Ref Daniel Laryea leads Ghanaian quartet for Liberia vs South Africa

Ghanaian referee Daniel Nii Ayi Laryea will continue his busy start to the year with yet another continental duty in March after being appointed for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier between Liberia and South Africa.

The 35-year-old started 2023 on duty at the 2022 CHAN tournament in Algeria and is continuing to play VAR roles at the ongoing U-20 Afcon in Egypt. In between, Laryea also handled the Caf Champions League game involving Merreikh and Zamalek in Libya.

Now the Confederation of African Football (Caf) has selected Laryea to lead a quartet of Ghanaian officials to manage affairs in Monrovia.

The Lone Stars of Liberia will host Bafana Bafana in a Group K fixture at Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex on Tuesday, March 28.

Referee Laryea will be assisted by Kwasi Acheampong Brobbey (Assistant I), Emmanuel Dolagbanu (Assistant II) and Abdul Latif Adaari (Fourth Official).

The Match Commissioner will be Bakary K. Jammeh from The Gambia while Pare Lossene from Burkina Faso will work as Referee Assessor.

Both Liberia and South Africa will be chasing their first point(s) in the qualifiers after losing their respective opening matches to Morocco. Group K has three teams following the disqualification of Zimbabwe.
