Karela pip leaders Aduana 1-0 at CAM Park

Karela United snapped a 7-game winless run by defeating leaders Aduana FC 1-0 on match-day 13 of the 2022/23 betPawa Ghana Premier League (GPL).

The Fire Club hoped to pull off another surprise but they came up short on this trip to Crosby Awuah Memorial (CAM) Park in Aiyinase on Sunday.

Aduana thought they had found the back of the net in the 68th minute but Fifa referee Charles Bulu disallowed the goal for offside.

Then on-loan Asante Kotoko winger Evans Adomako broke the deadlock to put Karela ahead in the 76th minute.

Luck appeared to have deserted Aduana on the day as winger Emmanuel Gyamfi came within the width of the woodwork to find the equaliser in the 90th minute.

Karela just hung on in the ensuing 5 minutes of added time to take three points for the first time in their last 8 league games.

Goalscorer Evans Adomako won the man-of-the-match award.

Karela United find themselves in the relegation zone – 16th – with as many points while Aduana FC, who have 24, could see their lead cut by the end of match-day 13 on Monday. They had opened a 4-point lead heading into this round of games.
