2022/23 GPL: Kotoko slump to first defeat at Bechem

Champions Asante Kotoko tasted defeat for the first time this 2022/23 Ghana Premier League campaign after a 2-0 loss to Bechem United.

It was an outstanding match-day 2 fixture at Fosu Gyeabour Park Thursday afternoon.

The Porcupine Warriors – who had won two and drawn one of three games played – fell behind to a penalty converted by Bechem captain Kofi Agbesimah in the 24th minute.

The second goal came in the 63rd minute when striker Emmanuel Avornyo started and finished off a swift counterattack for the Hunters.

Coach Kasim Mingle’s side saw out the remainder of the game with the two-goal lead.

The victory sees Bechem United climb to 8th position in the standings with 6 points. Asante Kotoko, meanwhile, stay 5th on 7 points.
