Tariq, Iñaki arrive as Black Stars open camp in Paris for September friendlies

The Black Stars of Ghana are pitching camp in Paris ahead of their two international friendlies against Brazil and Nicaragua in the coming days.

As of Monday, 23 of Otto Addo’s 29-man squad had already hit the French capital from their respective clubs after the weekend games.

Four of the newly-called players – Iñaki Williams, Tariq Lamptey, Stephen Ambrosius and Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer were among the early birds.

Goalkeeper Jojo Wollacott (Charlton Athletic), Alexander Djiku (SC Strasbourg), Gideon Mensah (AJ Auxerre), Joseph Aidoo (Celta Vigo), Daniel-Kofi Kyereh (SC Freiburg), Abdul Fatawu Issahaku (Sporting CP), Antoine Semenyo (Bristol City), Baba Iddrisu (Real Mallorca) and Denis Odoi (Club Brugge) are the other regular suspects to arrive.

11 more players – Abdul Manaf Nurudeen (KAS Eupen), Alidu Seidu (Clermont Foot), Baba Abdul Rahman (FC Reading), Thomas Partey (Arsenal), Mohammed Kudus (Ajax), Elisha Owusu (KAA Gent), Andre Ayew (Al Sadd), Daniel Ariyie Barnieh (Hearts of Oak), Osman Bukari (Red Star Belgrade), Kamaldeen Sulamana (Stade Rennais) and Jordan Ayew (Crystal Palace) have joined up with their teammates to raise the number of arrivals to 24.

Richard Ofori (Orlando Pirates), Salisu Mohammed (Southampton FC), Daniel Amartey (Leicester City), Felix Afena-Gyan (U.S Cremonese) form a quartet left so full-house is achieved by close of day for the Black Stars to kick into full gear of preparations to face Brazil in the first of the two scheduled matches.

Portions of a statement by the GFA read: “The home-based backroom staff and other officials departed Accra on Saturday and arrived in Paris on Sunday to team up with the rest of the staff and players.

“The team will hold its first training at 17Hrs on Monday as preparations get underway…”

The Brazil fixture comes off at the 25,000-seat multi-purpose Stade Océane in the French Normandy port city of Le Havre on Friday, September 23. Kickoff is at 18:30 GMT.

After the match in Le Havre, the Black Stars will then make a trip across the border into Spain to play Nicaragua four days later. The September 27 game comes off at Estadio Francisco Artés Carrasco based in Lorca.
