Hearts assistant coach Hamza Obeng wants pre-season outside Ghana

Hearts of Oak assistant coach, Hamza Obeng says a pre-season outside Ghana will be ideal for the club’s preparation ahead of the 2022/23 Caf Confederation Cup.

The Phobians qualified for the continental competition by beating Bechem United 2-1 in the 2022 MTN FA Cup.

Samuel Boadu’s side had a disappointing campaign in Africa last season failing to book a spot in the group stages of the Caf Champions League and Caf Confederation Cup.

“We would have wanted enough time for preparation last season but it was impossible.

“So going into the Confederation Cup this time and with the experience we had last season, I think the board and management Hearts will help us improve during pre-season.

“If possible, travel outside and play some high profile matches for the playing body to get that exposure,” Obeng told Akoma FM.

“We know for sure that playing in Ghana, definitely we must win with a huge margin and make the second leg a mere formality.”

Hearts of Oak will also play Asante Kotoko in the FA Champion of Champions clash on September 4 to herald the 2022/23 Ghana football season.
