Ghana Premier League big boys AshantiGold have been demoted two divisions after the Disciplinary Committee found gross evidence of match manipulation against the club.
After almost a year, the GFA looks to be bringing finality to “sporting investigations” into a 2020/21 Ghana Premier League match-day 34 game that saw the Miners hammer relegated Inter Allies 7-0 at Len Clay Stadium on Saturday, July 17, 2021.

Releasing its Disciplinary Committee verdict Monday, May 16, the GFA published:
“AshantiGold SC will be demoted to the Division Two League after being found Guilty of Match Manipulation in their 2020/21 Ghana Premier League match-day 34 game against Inter Allies FC.
“The decision takes effect from the 2022/23 league season.
“Officials of the club and players who participated in the above-mentioned match have also been sanctioned by the Disciplinary Committee.”
AshantiGold president Dr. Kwaku Frimpong and his son Emmanuel the CEO were identified as chief protagonists, who collaborated with one Emmanuel Nii Amoah (aka Nii Gogo) a volunteer of Inter Allies, in manipulating the match.
Both Dr. Frimpong and his son have been handed ten and eight-year bans respectively. They are also to pay a combined fine of GHS150,000.
