WAFA SC remain in the relegation zone despite defeating Berekum Chelsea in their 2021/22 Ghana Premier League (GPL) match-day 25 home clash Sunday afternoon.
The Academy Boys returned to winning ways with a 3-2 result after failing to do so in their last four matches in the league.
17-year-old attacking midfielder Michael Zuo scored the opening goal just 58 seconds into the game at Sogakope Park.
WAFA got the second through a penalty converted by Sampson Agyapong in the 26th minute. This was after Berekum Chelsea centre-back Henry Ainsu got penalized for pushing down striker Emmanuel Ofori Agyemang.
2-0 the first half ended.
The Bibires had Henry Ainsu pulling one back also via a penalty just two minutes into the second half.
But WAFA’s Ofori Agyemang scored in the 51st minute to re-establish the two-goal lead.
9 minutes from time, Ansu scored again for the visitors.
The hosts held on for the remaining minutes to win 3-2.
WAFA SC move their tally to 26 points but it is not enough to lift them out of the drop zone. They remain in 17th position. Berekum Chelsea are 7th and with 10 points better.
