Medeama SC capitalized on a controversial second-half penalty to sink relegation battling WAFA SC on match-day 26 of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League (GPL).
The fixture at Akoon Community Park in Tarkwa travelled for well over an hour without a goal.
Then referee Philip Arthur Forson and his assistant played an important role to set the Mauve and Yellows on the way to victory with a strange penalty decision.
Arthur Forson had given Medeama a free-kick outside the WAFA penalty area.
But while the hosts were ready to effect it, he allowed the linesman to persuade him to give a penalty instead.
Regular taker, Vincent Atingah broke the deadlock in the 66th minute with the spot-kick which eventually sealed the victory.
RE-Medeama PENALTY:
Referee Arthur Forson whistled for a foul just before the WAFA penalty area.
Kwasi Donsu was ready to take it but one of his assistants prompted the centre man that the incident happened in the box instead.#GPLwk26 | https://t.co/cOdDhcSTGq | #GPL https://t.co/pDR6xKuUqt
