Bechem United kept their 2021/22 Ghana Premier League (GPL) title hopes alive with a 1-0 win at home to Bibiani GoldStars on Sunday.
The Hunters needed an injury-time goal from Emmanuel Owusu to battle past the newcomers in the match-day 24 fixture at Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park.
The game was locked 0-0 for the 90 minutes of regulation time.
But just when Bechem looked like they had slipped further behind in the title race as league leaders Asante Kotoko were beating arch-rivals Hearts of Oak 1-0 in Kumasi the same afternoon, the match-winner arrived in stoppage time.
Owusu – who had come on as a substitute for Clinton Duodu in the 74th minute – rolled the ball home to steal the victory in the second minute of added time.
The 1-0 win ensures second-placed Bechem United go 44 points. The gap between them and Kotoko remains 8 points after match-day 24.
