WAFA pip RTU to return to winning ways after 3 straight defeats

WAFA SC ended a run of three straight defeats with a 1-0 victory over Real Tamale United (RTU) on match-day 20 of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League (GPL) at Sogakope Sunday.

The visitors created the most chances in the first half but ironically went down before the break.

The only goal of the game was recorded in the 42nd minute when striker Justus Torsutsey collected a threaded pass from Sampson Agyapong and brilliantly slotted past RTU goalkeeper Yaw Osei who had come off his line.

WAFA managed to hold on to the solitary goal lead in a barren second-half action and returned to winning ways after consecutive defeats to Karela United, King Faisal and Hearts of Oak.

The victory means WAFA move to tie on same points – 21 – with RTU but the Pride of the North edge the Academy Boys to sit in 16th place with a head-to-head advantage having won 2-0 in their first meeting of the campaign in Tamale on match-day 3.

WAFA captain Konadu Yiadom won the NASCO man-of-the-match award.
