Double friendlies for Black Queens against Morocco early April – GFA

The senior women’s national team of Ghana – Black Queens – will face Morocco in back-to-back international friendlies in April.

A publication by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) on Saturday, stated that it has secured “a one-week training tour in Morocco” for coach Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo’s side.

During this tour, the Queens will take on the Atlas Lionesses in two friendlies.

The Black Queens have no immediate assignment after failing to qualify for the upcoming 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) scheduled for July 2-23.

“The training tour which is scheduled for the early part of April will see the Black Queens taking on their Moroccan counterparts in two friendly matches.

“This tour forms part of the GFA’s commitment to providing adequate support and also building a formidable side for future assignments.

The 2022 Women’s Afcon, which doubles as the African qualifiers to the 2023 Fifa Women’s World Cup, is to be hosted by the Moroccans.

Facing Ghana comes as part of testing the readiness of the side coached by Renald Pedros after playing Senegal in November 2021 and Malta in February.

Morocco are expected to host the Black Queens at Prince Moulay El Hassan Stadium in Rabat.

Coach Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo is expected to name her squad to begin camping at the GFA technical Centre, Prampram in the coming days.
