2021/22 #DOLwk12: Zone One Preview

The last time out, there were no victories for Nsoatreman and Tamale City – the top two teams in the 2021/22 Division One League (DOL) Zone One standings. Both teams will be returning to their home venues for match-day 12 looking to extend their dominance in the zone.

Match-day 12 will have 3 match days on Friday, 4 matches on Saturday and Brong Ahafo United and Wa Suntaa will be the only fixture on Sunday, February 7.


  • Wa Yaasin Juniors vs Bofoakwa Tano

The week begins on Friday at the Nana Ameyaw Park, where Wa Yaasin Juniors welcomes Bofoakwa to Ohene Ameyaw Park. Referee Richmond Adjei will be at the helm of affairs for this encounter.

On the cards, it looks like the toughest fixture of the round – the 3rd-placed team hosting 5th-placed Bofoakwa.

Wa Yaasin Junior will be approaching this game with a 1–0 win on the road against Baffour Soccer Academy the last time – unbeaten in the last two encounters and will be aiming to make the home form count against a side currently gathering momentum after a poor start.

Bofoakwa stunned Tamale City 4–0 over the last weekend and are currently unbeaten in 4 games – three draws and a win.

  • Unity FC vs Young Apostles

The Golden City Park in Berekum will host Unity FC and Young Apostle FC on Friday. Hassim Yakubu will be the match referee.

Both teams find themselves in 8th and 7th positions on the log, separated by just one point. Apostle’s lost at home 2–0 to Dreams while Unity had a vital point away to Bolga All Stars SC.

It makes for a good encounter at Golden City Park.

  • Dreams Tamale vs Nkoranza Warriors

The action ends on Friday at Aliu Mahama Stadium Annex with referee Matthew Ayisu in charge when Dreams Tamale host Nkoranza Warriors.

It is a game between two sides tied on 11 points.

Dreams pulled a shocker against Young Apostle, securing a vital 2–0 win. Warriors failed to make home form count by drawing 1-1 against Kintampo FC last weekend.

  • Berekum Arsenal vs Bolga All Stars

On Saturday, referee Iddrisu Mustapha will be in the middle when 4th-placed Berekum Arsenal welcome 15th-placed Bolga All Stars to the Golden City Park.

Berekum Arsenal relinquished a lead twice and settled for a 2-2 draw with Wamanafo Mighty Royals on match-day 11. All Stars also played out a 1 – 1 draw against Unity FC at home the last time out.

  • Tamale City vs Steadfast FC

Second-placed Tamale City host Steadfast FC at the Aliu Mahama Stadium on Saturday.

After being condemned to a 4–0 defeat against Bofoakwa, Tamale City will be looking to bounce back to winning ways this time against 10th-placed Steadfast FC.

Steadfast secured a 2–1 win over BA United making for an interesting encounter.

Maurice Anankani will be the centre referee for this game.

  • Nsoatreman FC vs Wamanafo Mighty Royals

The Twumasi Sports Complex will see league leaders, Nsoatreman FC hosting 6th-placed Mighty Royals on Saturday. Referee: Alhassan Abdul Rashid Wumpini.

Nsoatreman played a 2–2 draw the last time against Wa Suntaa SC – and remain unbeaten in the last 6 outings. Royals played out a 2–2 draw against Berekum Arsenal in a game that went down to the additional time before the spoils were shared.

  • Kintampo FC vs Baffour Soccer Academy

The final game on Saturday takes place at Ohene Ameyaw Stadium where Kintampo FC host Baffour Soccer Academy.

It’s the 13th-placed team traveling to face a side just beneath them and tied on 10 points. They are separated by goal difference.

Kintampo FC held Nkoranza Warriors to a 1–1 draw while visiting Baffour Soccer Academy lost at home to Wa Yaasin Juniors.

Referee: Francis Xavier Adams.

  • Brong Ahafo United vs Wa Suntaa SC

The final game of the round takes place at Sunyani Coronation Park on Sunday with Brong Ahafo United hosting Wa Suntaa SC.

The appointed referee is Emmanuel Darko Asare.

It is a game between two clubs at the foot of the DOL Zone One standings.

BA United lost 2–1 on the road to Steadfast despite getting the first goal of the game. Wa Suntaa was held at home by leaders Nsoatreman in a game that ended 2–2.
