Sulley Muntari joins Hearts in free deal [THE DETAILS]

The one-year agreement - which was signed a couple of days ago - includes a clause that allows the player to pull out when the current season - 2021/22 - ends in July.

Former Inter Milan and AC Milan star, Sulley Ali Muntari has joined Ghana Premier League (GPL) champions Hearts of Oak until the end of the 2022 calendar year, Footy-Ghana.com has confirmed.

This marks a return to club football for the 37-year-old midfielder some 31 months since his last stint with Spanish side Albacete – July 2019.

Footy-Ghana.com can reveal that the one-year agreement – which was signed a couple of days ago – includes a clause that allows Muntari to pull out when the current season – 2021/22 – ends in July.

 

There is no fee involved in this deal which sees the 2009/10 Uefa Champions League winner officially add the Phobians to his portfolio.

Muntari’s illustruous career has seen him feature for clubs like Udinese, Portsmouth, Inter Milan and AC Milan, Sunderland, Al Ittihad Jeddah, Pescara and Deportivo La Coruna.

The idea of Muntari possibly donning the Phobian jersey began in July 2018 when the three-time World Cup star joined them in training for weeks to keep himself in shape while on holidays in wait for a new deal after a short stint with Deportivo La Coruna.

But he ended up signing for Albacete in January 2019 for six months.

Muntari resumed training with coach Samuel Boadu’s side earlier this week.

His registration for the ongoing 2021/22 Ghana football season is expected to be completed among that of other new signings immediately the transfer window opens on February 1.
