Ebenezer Ackahbi came off the bench to score a late winner as Medeama SC beat AshantiGold 1-0 away in their 2021/22 Ghana Premier League (GPL) match-day 11 tie Monday afternoon.
The game had travelled the 90 minutes at Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi with neither side finding the back of the net.
But Ackahbi – who replaced captain Joseph Tetteh Zutah in the 62nd minute – emerged to stun the hosts with the match decider in stoppage time.
The 1-0 defeat means the Miners now go on a five-game winless run and drop to 14th in the league standings.
Medeama now move to 5th on same points – 18 – with fourth-placed Bechem United with the Mauve and Yellows having a game in hand on the Hunters.
That outstanding fixture – against champions Hearts of Oak – has been scheduled to be cleared on Wednesday, January 12 at Akoon Park.
