Majeed Ashimeru came off the bench and sealed victory for RSC Anderlecht who beat Sint-Truidense VV 2-0 in a 2021/22 Belgian Pro League match-day 19 home fixture Tuesday night.
The Ghana midfielder warmed the bench until the 89th minute when manager Vincent Kompany decided to throw him in for Israeli international Lior Refaelov.
Andrlecht were already 1-0 ahead – thanks to Refaelov’s headed goal on the hour mark.
And seven minutes into stoppage time, Ashimeru headed home to maked it 2-0 for the dominant ‘Purple and Whites’.
It, however, had to take a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) decision over offside for the goal to stand.
The 2-0 victory temporarily takes RSC Anderlecht to third position in the league standings with 34 points.
