Kotoko’s title aspirations still intact – Narteh Ogum

Asante Kotoko coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum maintains the club’s charge for the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League (GPL) title is still very much alive.

After a 100% start in the opening four matches of the new campaign, the Porcupine Warriors have experienced a growing slump in momentum with their title credentials now under scrutiny.

Kotoko have gone winless in their last three matches, losing at home to city rivals King Faisal in between drawn games against Karela United and Real Tamale United (RTU).

Coach Narteh Ogum’s side let slip a lead against returnees RTU to draw 1-1 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Wednesday night.

Reacting to dropping points for the successive home game, the trainer said: “I think it [the challenge] is about converting the chances.”

“Once we are able to convert the chances, we will be fine, it is all that we are left with.”

Narteh Ogum added the ongoing league is very young and that Kotoko are very much up for it as far as the title chase is concerned.

“Our title aspirations are still intact. We are playing 38 games and this is match-day 8, so there is a lot to play for,” he stated.

Asante Kotoko will hope to regain their winning form on match-day 9 when they visit Legon Cities.

With a game in hand against arch-rivals Hearts of Oak, the record league champions currently sit at number 3 in the GPL standings with 14 points from 7 games.
