Ghana coach, Milovan Rajevac has announced a 30-man provisional squad for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) finals.
In the Serbian tactician’s pre-list are first-time call-ups for four players – Khalid Abdul Mumin Suleman of Vitoria de Guimaraes, Salis Abdul Samed from French Ligue 1 side Clermont Foot, as well as Maxwell Abbey Quaye and David Abagna from Ghana Premier League sides Great Olympics and Real Tamale United respectively.
AS Roma sensation Felix Afena-Gyan is named for his first Ghana cap at any level once more after declining a shock invitation for the World Cup qualifiers in November.
Belgium-based winger Joseph Painstil also gets named once more after failing to honour a late maiden call-up for friendlies against Mali and Qatar in October 2020.
Twenty-four (24) of the invited players have been involved in recent Ghana squads since Rajevac returned as head coach some two months ago.
The Black Stars will begin camping on Wednesday, December 22 in Doha, Qatar for a 17-day training camp in preparation for the Cameroon Afcon which kicks off on Sunday, January 9, 2022.
Ghana will play three friendly matches while in Qatar. The Ghana Football Association has already concluded talks with Algeria while engagements are ongoing for two additional matches.
