2021/22 Caf CC: Hearts suffer 4-0 defeat to JS Saoura, bow out [VIDEO]

JS Saoura kicked an underwhelming Hearts of Oak out of the 2021/22 Caf Confederation Cup after a 4-0 victory in the return leg of the playoffs at Stade 20 Aout 1955 in Bechar Sunday evening.

The Eagles progressed to the group stage on a 4-2 aggregate as the Ghana champions failed on the second attempt in Africa this season.

Samuel Boadu’s side was also embarrassed in Morocco in the Caf Champions League playoffs, losing 6-1 to Wydad Club Athletic after a 1-0 first-leg advantage.

Abdeljalil Saad gave Saoura the lead with a close-range finish that passed through the legs of goalkeeper Richard Baidoo after 21 minutes.

Hearts of Oak’s poor set-piece defending was punished in the 37th minute when brace hero Oussama Bellatreche nodded in from a right-side delivery for the Algerians’ second of the game.

Bellatreche got JS Saoura the important third just two minutes into the second half with another header from a corner kick taken short.

Aymen Lahmeri scored the assurance goal with three minutes to the end of the game as a result of another chaotic defending.

The game eventually ended 4-0 for the hosts.

Hearts of Oak will now be looking to turn their poor start to the Ghana Premier League around after failing in Africa twice.
