#GPLwk5: King Faisal, Medeama share spoils at Baba Yara

King Faisal drew goalless with Medeama in an exciting 2021/22 Ghana Premier League (GPL) match-day five fixture at Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday.

The Insha Allah boys have enjoyed a fine start to life in the league, winning two games and their second draw against the Yellow and Mauves keeps them in the top-four of the league standings.

Medeama began the league campaign poorly and their first and only win came against Karela United on match-day four. But both sides were wasteful on the afternoon.

King Faisal marksman Osman Ibrahim was the biggest culprit, missing several golden opportunities to grab the opener.

The first half was Medeama’s to win due to their superiority in midfield but Faisal looked better in attack and were denied the few times they troubled goalkeeper Boris Junior.

After the break, King Faisal looked better and midfield and the game changed into an end-to-end affair.

Both sides kept attacking with quick transitions and it seemed like the game could record goals as the minutes passed.

In the closing stages, Faisal made a close attempt but again, Boris Junior was to the rescue of his team.

Heading into match-week six, Medeama will be out of action because their opponent face JS Saoura in the Caf Confederation Cup till match-day seven where they play Real Tamale United in Tamale.

King Faisal will also play against Asante Kotoko at Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

The Insha Allah boys maintain second place position on the league log while Medeama lie 11th.
