2022 WCQ: Losing 1-0 against Ghana is nothing – Unaware South Africa coach

South Africa coach, Hugo Broos appeared at his post-match conference unaware of the consequences of his side’s 1-0 win against Zimbabwe in the overall outcome of Group G of the African qualifiers for the 2022 Fifa World Cup.

The Belgian claimed losing by one goal to the Black Stars in the final group game on Sunday, November 14 is nothing, when in reality, any defeat means the Bafana Bafana won’t make the playoffs.

Broos, who appeared unaware it is goal difference and overall goal goals scored that count first as tiebreakers said, “I think the biggest error we can make Sunday is if we defend.

“We will receive goals for sure,” he added, and then it got weird.

“If we lose (concede) one goal, it is nothing but a second goal, it becomes tricky, so at some periods of the game we must make pain for Ghana.

“If we lose the game, we must make sure we don’t lose the game by too many goals.”

South Africa leads the group with 13 points, three ahead of Ghana’s 10, but will play as guests to the Black Stars Sunday at the Cape Coast Stadium.

The Bafana Bafana must avoid defeat if they are to qualify for the playoffs ahead of Ghana.
