Guillermo Zaragoza: WAFA hire ex-Real Madrid Foundation coach

Spaniard Guillermo Hamdan Zaragoza is the new WAFA SC coach for the 2021/22 football season.

Last season’s Ghana Premier League second runners-up have been on the lookout for a new head trainer after local man Prosper Narteh Ogum left the role to take up the job at Asante Kotoko.

The Sogakope-based club announced the appointment Saturday:

The Uefa Pro coach arrived earlier this week and has already been training with the side.

“WAFA is a very prestigious institution that has been very successful in the development of players in West Africa.

“I hope that I can come in and contribute to the work that has been done for over 20 years.

“I will mainly be working with the senior side so I will do my best to help them in this last phase of development,” he said.

Guille, as he is nicknamed, is an instructor for Master in Football and Player Development at Real Madrid University.

The former Al-Sadd SC player also served as a head coach and coaches educator at Real Madrid Foundation between June 2015 and January 2019.

He has been a scout for professional players at Brentford FC.

Should his work permit be sorted out in time, Guillermo will lead the Academy Boys in their first game of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League at the end of the month. They play guests to King Faisal FC.
