2021/22 Caf CL: Hearts vs CI Kamsar to be held behind closed doors

Hearts of Oak’s eliminator against CI Kamsar of Guinea in the 2021/22 Caf Champions League first preliminary round will be played behind closed doors.

This is due to a refusal by the Confederation of African Football (Caf) to allow fans to attend the game at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, September 19.

A publication on the website of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) said:

“This directive is was communicated to the Ghana Football Association by Caf in view of the COVID-19 restrictions and Caf protocols.

“The Match Commissioner has also confirmed same in the Pre Match meeting held today at the Ghana Football Association.

“Only players and officials of both clubs, the medics for the match, few media persons and matchday stadium attendants will be allowed to enter the stadium for the match.”

It added: “In accordance with the Caf COVID-19 Protocols, all persons in the inner perimeter of the Accra Sports Stadium will have to present a negative COVID-19 PCR result.”

The Hearts-CI Kamsar tie was turned into a single match in Accra by Caf following a coup d’etat in Ghana a fortnight ago.

Per the balloting held at Saturday’s pre-match technical meeting, the visiting Guineans will bear the home team tag and will don a predominantly white kit by outfield players and yellow for the goalkeeper.

Hearts on the other hand will don their new Umbro first-choice kits with blue and red markings.

Penalty shootouts will be used to decide the tie in the event of a stalemate after regulation time.

Kickoff is at 15:00 GMT.
