2021/22 Caf CL: Hearts to face Wydad AC in group stage playoffs

Hearts of Oak have booked themselves a date with Wydad Athletic Club (WAC) of Morocco in the second preliminary round of the 2021/22 Caf Champions League.

The Ghanaian champions – on their return to the competition for the first time since 2007 – eliminated CI Kamsar by beating the Guinean side 2-0 in a single-match playoff on Sunday.

Two late goals from substitutes Kofi Kordzi and youngster Salim Adams at the Accra Sports Stadium earned the Phobians a ticket to the next stage of the competition/

Hearts will now take on Wydad who were exempted from the first preliminary round.

The year 2000 African champions will host the first leg in Accra on October 17 before travelling to Stade Mohammed V in Casablanca for the reverse fixture the following weekend.

The winner of the two-legged affair advances to the group stage while the loser drops to the Caf Confederation Cup playoffs.
