Hasaacas Ladies qualify for maiden Caf Women’s Champions League tourney

Hasaacas Ladies, on Monday, earned themselves a slot to participate in the maiden Caf Women’s Champions League tournament scheduled for Egypt later this year.

The record Ghanaian champions (4 times) did so by posting a 2-0 win over Burkinabe side Union Sportive des Forces Armees (USFA) in the first semifinal clash of the ongoing Wafu Zone B qualifying series hosted by Cote d’Ivoire.

Goals from Veronica Appiah and Doris Boaduwaa in either half were enough for the second-placed side in Group B to overcome the Group A winners.

Veronica Appiah headed in a Doris Boaduwaa cross from the right flank to give Hasaacas the lead in the 45th minute of the game at Stade Robert Champroux in Abidjan.

The provider turned scorer when Milot Pokuaa set Boaduwaa up for the second from close-range inside the box in the 59th minute.

Hasaacas Ladies are thus in the grand finale awaiting the winner of the second semifinal between Rivers Angels of Nigeria and Togolese side Amis Du Monde later this evening.

The two finalists will represent Wafu B in the maiden tournament in Egypt.

With the ultimate aim of qualifying for the maiden Caf Women’s Champions League now achieved, Hasaacas Ladies will be hoping to put the icing on the cake by emerging winners of the Wafu Zone B qualifying series.

The final is scheduled for Thursday, August 5
