Ghana international, Caleb Ekuban is on the verge of completing a return to Italy – his country of birth – after undergoing a medical with Serie A side Genoa FC on Wednesday.
The 27-year-old Verona-born forward is reportedly leaving Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor in a deal worth €2m plus performance-related bonuses.
Ekuban came up through the Chievo Verona youth academy, going on to represent lower-level clubs like Sudtirol, Lumezzane and Renate.
After a difficult spell with Leeds United in the 2017/18 season, he moved to Trabzonspor for €1.2m in 2019.
Ekuban – plays as a support striker or a centre-forward – stood out in his experience in Turkey, scoring 21 goals in 67 appearances across all competitions for Trabzonspor in two seasons.
Caleb Ekuban is expected to sign a three-year contract with Genoa FC.
