2022 WCQ: Ghana list 30-man squad for Ethiopia, South Africa games

Ghana coach, Charles Akonnor has named a 30-man Black Stars provisional squad for the 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers against Ethiopia and South Africa.

Three Black Satellites players; Philemon Baffuor, Issahaku Abdul Fatawu and Afriyie Barnieh have been given a shot at the Black Stars for the two games that kick-start Ghana’s campaign to return to the World Cup in Qatar, having missed the 2018 edition hosted by Russia.

Asante Kotoko defender Ismail Ganiyu and Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Richard Attah are included in the team as well.

Orlando Pirates shot-stopper Richard Ofori returns to the squad after a nine-month break from the national team. The 27-year-old has been on the sidelines for eleven months due to a muscle injury.

Also, Akonnor has also handed call ups to Belgium-based duo Manaf Nurudeen and Majeed Ashimeru and Sturm Graz forward Kelvin Yeboah.

Ghana will take on the Walias of Ethiopia at the Cape Coast stadium on Friday, September 3, before playing South Africa on Monday, September 6, 2021, in Johannesburg.
