2021/22 Caf CL: CI Kamsar playing Hearts a dream game – Amos Frimpong

New Club Industriel de Kamsar signing, Amos Frimpong says facing Hearts of Oak in the Caf Champions League is one that he has long dreamt of.

The right-back – a former Asante Kotoko captain – joined the Guinean side this week after a short spell with  Techiman Eleven Wonders in the second round of the just-ended 2020/21 Ghana Premier League.

And Frimpong’s immediate competitive fixture for new club CI Kamsar appears to come with facing old foes Hearts after they were pitted against each other on Friday for the first preliminary round of the 2021/22 Caf Champions League.

Reacting to the draw, the experienced defender told Oyerepa FM:

“It’s quite intriguing that prior to the draw, I was having the feeling we could get Hearts of Oak.

“CI Kamsar playing Hearts in the Champions League is a dream match for me. I had always wanted to be part of a team to play against them again.

“Since the draw, my colleagues have been asking about Hearts. I’m confident we have the quality to qualify ahead of Hearts.”

Despite having little or experience on the continent, the Guinean side targets making a better impact than champions Horoya AC on the continent and clinch the coveted trophy.

“Our club President has told us to do better than what Horoya AC is doing on the continent. Winning the Caf Champions League is our aim and I don’t see Hearts of Oak stopping us even though I admit they are on top of their game,” Frimpong added.

CI Kamsar will host the first leg on the weekend of September 10-12 before travelling to face Hearts at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 19.

The aggregate winner of this tie advances to the second preliminary round to battle Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca for a spot in the group stages of the Caf Champions League.
