Not Kotoko standard: Johnson Smith takes dig at ‘some’ strikers

Asante Kotoko assistant coach, Johnson Smith has been left unimpressive by the prowess of his side’s attacking unit.

According to him, scoring shouldn’t be a problem for the Porcupine Warriors even in the absence of some of their key men.

“We have strikers so if others are not available, they should step up and let’s see.

Asante Kotoko beefed up their attacking department after the exit of Kwame Opoku with Francis Andy Kumi, Solomon Sarfo Taylor and Brazilian Michael Vinicius who left after only 78 days into his contract.

Despite having a pool of options, goal conversion remains a problem at Kotoko.

“Some [players] call themselves strikers but their performances are not the standard of Kotoko and it’s hard to believe,” a disappointed Smith lamented after Tuesday’s FA Cup win over Asokwa Deportivo.

Asante Kotoko have scored 36 goals in 32 games in the Ghana Premier League and 7 goals in three FA Cup matches so far this season.
