King Faisal beat relegation rivals Dwarfs 2-0 in penultimate game

King Faisal maintained their push for Ghana Premier League survival by dispatching Ebusua Dwarfs 2-0 in their penultimate game of the 2020/21 season Sunday morning.

The match-day 33 fixture at the Ohene Ameyaw Park could not hold as originally scheduled on Saturday due to heavy rains prior to kickoff.

After a barren opening 45 minutes, King Faisal fired both goals in a space of 8 second-half minutes to ensure they lift themselves out of the relegation zone after this round of games later in the day.

Kwadwo Frimpong opened the scoring by netting in the 52nd minute.

Faisal then put themselves in a much comfortable lead courtesy a Zubairu Ibrahim goal right on the hour mark – his sixth in 23 league appearances.

The 2-0 victory lifts King Faisal – now on 40 points – from position 16 to 11th ahead of the remaining games of match-day 33.

Stuck on 38 points, the result does Dwarfs no favours in their bid to beat the drop. They host Bechem United in a must-win final game of the campaign while Faisal visit another relegation rival in Liberty Professionals.

King Faisal’s Kwame Peprah was named NASCO man-of-the-match.
