After fighting to draw 1-1 away to Ebusua Dwarfs at Cape Coast, Hearts of Oak coach Samuel Boadu claims his players underestimated their opponents.
Boadu was keen on Hearts snatching all three points to further extend their lead over title rivals Asante Kotoko who had also drawn at home to King Faisal on Saturday.
The cagey battle Sunday night saw Dwarfs take a stunning lead through captain Denis Korsah in the 83rd minute before Kwadwo Obeng Jnr. levelled in stoppage time to snatch a point for the Phobians.
But Boadu was not a happy man.
“As you know the relegation team and the team which wants to take the league [playing each other] is highly competitive.
“It’s quite unfortunate we conceded a goal before we came back. We are not done yet, we are still on course. We wanted to win this match so that we can widen the gap, I’m not happy at all.
“They [Hearts players] were a little bit down, they thought that Dwarfs was a weak side so they could beat them [easily], so they relaxed.
“But we don’t go like that, we should go all out so that we can win the subsequent matches because we need to take the league title,” the Phobians’ trainer said in a pitchside interview.
The next three points for Hearts of Oak will see them effectively lay their hands on the Ghana Premier League title for the first time since the 2009/10 season.
Hearts host relegation-threatened Liberty Professionals next and travel to face WAFA SC on the last day of the season.
