2020/21 MTN FA Cup: AshantiGold, Kotoko to play at home; Hearts visit Sharks in quarterfinals

Holders Asante Kotoko will need to get past bogey side Berekum Chelsea in the quarterfinals of the 2020/21 MTN FA Cup if they are to stay on course for a domestic title this campaign.

The Porcupine Warriors just lost out on the Ghana Premier League title to arch-rivals Hearts of Oak who are still in this race eyeing a double.

Kotoko will be at home to the Bibires in one of two last-8 fixtures that will be held at Len Clay Stadium.

Landlords and three-time FA Cup winners AshantiGold have been drawn to host Kintampo Top Talent FC in the other quarterfinal in Obuasi.

Another mouthwatering pairing sees record champions (10) and double-chasing Hearts of Oak trek to the Nduom Sports Complex to face Premier League rivals Elmina Sharks.

The final tie saw giant-killing Attram de Visser Academy also handed an away trip to two-time winners Medeama SC.

The 2020/21 MTN FA Cup last-8 ties are scheduled to take place over the weekend of July 24-25.

The pairings involved six Premier League teams and two from Division Two – Attream de Visser Academy and Kintampo Top Talent.

Road to the final:

According to the MTN FA Cup Organizing Committee, semifinals games – scheduled for July 31 and August 1 – will be staged at a neutral ground with the Cape Coast Sports Stadium the likely location.

The grand finale is scheduled for August 8 at a yet-to-be-confirmed venue.

Prize Money

The eventual winner of the 2020/21 MTN FA Cup competition will – in addition to the trophy and gold medals – receive cash of GHc80,000. The champions will as well be entitled to a GH¢100,000 support for their Caf Confederation Cup campaign.

The runner-up gets GH¢30,000 cash and medals.
