Majeed Ashimeru: I might move to Anderlecht permanently

Midfielder Majeed Ashimeru has confirmed talks of a permanent transfer to RSC Anderlecht.

The Ghana international recently completed a half-season loan spell with the Belgian giants from parent club Red Bull Salzburg.

Ashimeru, 23, scored once in 12 outings with his output convincing Anderlecht to want to exercise their option to buy from the Austrian champions.

Reports emerged last week that Anderlecht were deep in talks with Salzburg and even come close to sealing a €1.5m cut-price fee for the player, a million less the amount initially agreed by the clubs during loan talks earlier this year.

And the WAFA SC graduate, in an interview with TV3, has confirmed the possibility of continuing with Belgian football.

“RB Salzburg are still communicating with Anderlecht and probably I might move there permanently.

“I don’t really know where I am going right now, but in the next few days I will know if I am going back to Anderlecht or staying with Red Bull,” he stated.

Majeed Ashimeru is currently contracted to Red Bull Salzburg until summer 2024. He joined them from Ghana Premier League side WAFA in 2017.
