#GPLwk31: Moro hat-trick as Dwarfs tear Karela apart

A Moro Sumaila treble inspired relegation-threatened Ebusua Dwarfs to an emphatic 4-1 victory away to Karela United on match-day 31 of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League.

The Passion and Pride side had this home fixture played at Nduom Sports Complex on Monday due to a temporary ban of their Crosby Awuah Memorial (CAM) Park after a crowd incident in the FA Cup the previous week.

Dwarfs – who embarked on a short trip from Cape Coast to Elmina – shot themselves in front in the 12th minute with Ishmael Antwi setting up forward Moro Sumaila who made no mistake in planting home.

Moro, again, extended the lead to 2-0 four minutes into the second half.

The Crabs netted the third goal through substitute Enoch Afram whose close-range effort found the bottom corner in the 67th minute.

Karela United reduced the deficit in the 78th minute with a goal from Kamaradini Mamudu who connected a pass from midfielder Umar Basiru to beat goalkeeper Bright Quaye.

Dwarfs then dashed any hope of a Karela comeback with another goal in the 81st minute. And it was Moro Sumaila who ensured he would sign off the day with a hat-trick

The stunning result lifts Ebusua Dwarfs from 16th to 12th position in the standings. They are on 37 points while Karela – in 7th – have 47 after 31 matches.

In the next round of games, Karela United travel to take on Liberty Professionals on Sunday with Ebusua Dwarfs hosting leaders Hearts of Oak at Cape Coast.
