Egypt forward Mohamed Salah is on top of the chart of the top ten most valuable African players in the world at the moment with a €100m market value according to transfermarkt.com.
The 2018 African Footballer of the Year had another great season with Liverpool in the just-ended campaign, scoring 31 goals in 51 games in all competitions, 8 more goals better than his tally two seasons ago.
The €100m market value is a decrease of €10m from the 28-year-old’s value at the end of the Premier League winning 2019/20 season.
Salah’s Liverpool teammate Sadio Mane is second on the list after firing 16 goals in 48 games in all competitions for his club.
The Senegalese winger has a market value of €85m, which is a €15m decrease from his value last summer.
The other three completing the top five experienced rises in their values after having great seasons.
Moroccan right-back Achraf Hakimi and Nigeria’s Wilfred Ndidi are third and fourth, respectively, but both have a €60m market value.
Hakimi won the Italian league title with Inter Milan last season, playing a big part in it. He scored 7 goals and provided 11 assists in 45 games. He is now the subject of a transfer battle between Chelsea and PSG.
Ndidi was integral for Leicester City, as they won the FA Cup for the first time in the club’s history.
He played 36 games across all competitions, scoring just once as a defensive midfielder and created 4 others for teammates.
Ivorian midfielder Franck Kessie is 5th on the list with a market value of €55m. He had a stellar campaign with AC Milan, playing 50 games. He scored 14 goals and provided 6 assists.
Victor Osimhen (Nigeria, €50m), Kalidou Koulibaly (Senegal, €48m), Wilfried Zaha (Ivory Coast, €45m), Riyad Mahrez (Algeria, €42m), and Edmond Tapsoba (Burkina Faso, €40) respectively completed the top ten list.
