‘They are hypocrites’ – Asamoah Gyan reacts to Kotoko fans booing him

Legon Cities star, Asamoah Gyan did not enjoy the reactions from spectators at the Accra Sports Stadium when his side lost to Asante Kotoko in the Ghana Premier League on Saturday.

In. what appeared a display of no love lost, constant boos from some Kotoko fans in the stands greeted the former Black Stars captain who came on for Francis Kwofie in the 75th minute for what was a second outing against the Porcupines since returning to the Ghana Premier League.

Augustine Okrah’s 13th-minute effort off Fabio Gama’s free-kick decided the game.

“There is only one Asamoah Gyan. They [the fans] can boo, they know they are hypocrites but they know there is only one Asamoah Gyan.

“They can say I am arrogant, I will be arrogant because they know the hard truth.

“I’m just here to help my team. They should even be thankful I’m in the league. So it is what it is,” the legendary Ghana striker said in a reaction.

Asamoah Gyan’s relationship with Asante Kotoko fans soured after the club’s failed attempt to sign him late last year.

The deal fell through after Kotoko reportedly balked at the $1million fee demanded by Gyan’s representatives.
