Samuel Frimpong extends Kotoko contract until 2023

Asante Kotoko defender, Samuel Frimpong has signed a new contract that will run until 2023, the club has officially announced.

After returning from a loan spell at Karela United last season, the 23-year-old has featured in 15 of the Porcupine Warriors’ 25 Ghana Premier League games this campaign, providing competition to first-choice right-back Christopher Nettey.

Frimpong, whose initial three-year contract was running out in May, negotiated new terms and decided to commit his future to the club by two more years.

“It was drilled to me as soon as I came here that there are opportunities for everyone and I have worked my way up.

“Kotoko is the pick of every player in Ghana and so who wouldn’t feel blessed and proud to wear the red shirt?

“But it is a privilege that comes with a lot of responsibilities. I am glad that the club has faith in me and I pledge that I would do my best to help the team flourish,” Frimpong said on his extension.

Asante Kotoko signed Samuel Frimpong from Division One side Bekwai Youth Football Academy in May 2018 with his debut coming against Elmina Sharks in the GPL that year.
