Late own goal hands WAFA dramatic win over Dwarfs

A late Emmanuel Annaful own goal proved decisive as Ebusua Dwarfs slipped back into the relegation zone after a 2-1 defeat away to WAFA SC on match-day 27 of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League.

The Crabs first went behind in the 56th minute when Enoch Asubonteng broke the deadlock for the Academy Boys.

But forward Richard Addai struck 9 minutes from time to cancel out the WAFA lead.

The game looked headed for a 1-1 draw before it turned into a thrilling end for the hosts.

With a long pass, playmaker Augustine Boakye found striker Justus Torsutsey whose cross into the Dwarfs box was awkwardly turned in by centre-back Annaful.

2-1, WAFA led just before the 90th.

There was an additional time of 5 minutes with WAFA holding on to all three points at Sogakope.

The dramatic win sees WAFA SC usurp Aduana and Dreams into sixth position with 42 points in the league standings.

Ebusua Dwarfs are now in serious danger of relegation as they slip back into the drop zone – 17th – with 28 points from 27 games.
