#GPLwk24: WAFA pull off epic comeback win at Medeama

Title-chasing Medeama SC were brought down to earth with a bump as WAFA SC recovered from conceding an early goal to nick a stunning 2-1 victory at Akoon Park on Wednesday.

Goals by captain Enock Asubonteng and Godwin Agbevor sealed a successive away win for the Academy Boys after striker Prince Opoku Agyemang had scored an early goal for the hosts.

Hosts Medeama drew first blood within two minutes of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League match-day 24 encounter with Opoku Agyemang finding the back of the net with a left-foot strike.

It was 1-0 at the break but WAFA drew level with 8 minutes gone into the second half through Asubonteng who netted for the third straight game.

The game looked set for a 1-1 draw until the added time when 18-year-old winger Godwin Agbevor emerged with the winner for the visitors.

Medeama’s shock home defeat sees the Mauve and Yellows – on 40 points – drop from second spot to fourth while WAFA SC climb into 7th position with 35.
