An Abdul Ganiu Abass 90th-minute equalizer denied AshantiGold all three points in a 1-1 draw against Eleven Wonders at Len Clay Stadium Sunday afternoon.
The 2020/21 Ghana Premier League match-day 23 fixture saw head coach Ignatius Osei-Fosu return to the dugout for the visitors after stepping aside for the last two games while assistant coach Thomas Duah led the Miners as stop-gap following the departure of Frenchman Romain Folz earlier in the week.
Midfielder David Abagna scored for the third game running – his 7th goal of the campaign – to hand AshantiGold the lead after feeding on a pass from Seth Osei in the 39th minute.
Wonders were down 1-0 until the 90th minute when Ganiu Abass – who had only come on as a substitute for Clement Boahen in the 73rd minute – punished ball-watching AshantiGold defenders by putting the ball beyond goalkeeper Kofi Mensah to tie the game 1-1.
AshantiGold drop one place to the 10th with 30 points. Wonders, now on 26 points, remain 14th, just three points above the bottom three.
