2020/21 GPL Standings: Dwarfs drop to 17th, on 25 points

Following a GFA Disciplinary Committee decision, Ebusua Dwarfs have dropped to 17th spot in the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League standings as of match-day 25,

Fans of the Crabs were found guilty of initiating the acts responsible for causing the abrupt end of their match-day 23 home fixture against Legon Cities on Sunday, May 9.

The visitors were leading 1-0 at halftime but the game could not run its full length as match officials refused to return after the break citing threats on their lives from home fans who had gained access to the inner perimeter, the tunnel area and the dressing room area of the Cape Coast Stadium.

Match Reports by the referees stated that “on their way to the tunnel after the first half of the game, the home team supporters entered the tunnel, physically assaulted and threatened the referees adding that the referees won’t leave the stadium alive after the game.”

Aside Ebusua Dwarfs being declared to have forfeited the match and the Royals awarded three points and three (3) goals, the Crabs “shall lose three (3) points from the club’s accumulated points from their previous matches pursuant to Article 33(5)(a) of the GFA Premier League Regulations” the GFA DC ruling also declared.

Ebusua Dwarfs had accumulated 28 points with a goal difference of negative 4 and in 13th position prior to the ruling.

Pending a successful appeal, Dwarfs now move down to second from bottom (17th) of the league table with 25 points and a goal difference of negative 7.

Also, Legon Cities, having been awarded three points and three goals, rise to 13th spot on 29 points.
