#GPLwk19: Dwarfs and Wonders battle profligacy in 1-1 stalemate

Ebusua Dwarfs and Eleven Wonders settled for a 1-1 draw when they clashed on match-day 19 of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League (GPL) at Cape Coast Sports Stadium Friday afternoon.

Having lost 2-0 in their first meeting at Techiman, the Crabs were coming out for revenge while also being under pressure to record a win after losing their last game – the Central Derby – to Elmina Sharks under bizarre circumstances.

Regular goalkeeper Razak Issah was sacrificed for his troubles while Japanese forward Jindo Morishita came on in the second half for his GPL debut.

The game was virtually decided in the opening 15 minutes when both sides scored to cancel each other out and were guilty of missing a series of clear-cut chances in the remainder of the game.

Dwarfs – who started with a slight edge – deservedly took the lead in the 13th minute when Michael Asamoah was allowed space to move and fire past Ibrahim.

But Wonders hit back quickly after the restart as the hosts allowed Clement Boahen to bundle in the equalizer two minutes later.

Dwarfs created many chances in the second half but their attackers took turns to miss them all. At the other end was Wonders striker Samuel Boakye whose profligacy took the better of his performance on the day.

Michael Asamoah was named NASCO man-of-the-match.

The stalemate takes Ebusua Dwarfs’ tally to 24 points while Wonders – after a second successive 1-1 draw – move to 22 after 19 matches.
