‘Can’t hold my tears,’ departing Kotoko striker Kwame Opoku writes

Asante Kotoko striker, Kwame Opoku has cleared the uncertainty of his stay at the club.

The striker – with two WhatsApp status updates – has ended the debate on whether he is cutting short his stint at the club where he has won the hearts of many for a transfer to 8-time Algerian champions USM Alger.

Opoku, who has seen his short career at Kotoko, bids farewell to the Porcupine Warriors after striking a gentleman’s agreement with involving parties.

“It has not been easy for me for a couple of days now but thanks to God, we have all come to a mutual agreement.

“If it’s true my business was unfinished here, surely will come back to complete.

“Fabulous will forever remain in my heart. Great family,” Opoku posted.

With a teary emoji, he expressed sadness on his imminent exit away from the supporters of Kotoko.

“In fact, you are the best… Going to miss you all… Can’t hold my tears,” he added.

Kwame Opoku has completed personal terms for the move to L’USMA – a deal that would fetch Kotoko a net of about €350,000.

He is expected to join the Algerian giants later in March after the Black Stars’ Afcon 2021 double-header qualifier against South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe.

Opoku plays for Asante Kotoko in their outstanding Ghana Premier League match against King Faisal at the Ohene Ameyaw Park in Techiman this afternoon.

This could be the last appearance for the highly-rated forward who has scored 7 goals in the Ghana Premier League since joining in February 2020.
