Ashimeru makes scoring debut in Anderlecht win

Midfielder Majeed Ashimeru came off the bench and scored on his RSC Anderlecht debut after joining on loan from Red Bull Salzburg three weeks ago.

Les Mauves et Blancs travelled to beat RFC Liege 2-0 at Stade de Rocourt in the Belgian Cup round of 16 Wednesday night.

Anderlecht were winning 1-0 when coach Vincent Kompany decided Ashimeru – who made the squad for the first time – should come into the game to replace Jacob Bruun Larsen for his debut in the 62nd minute.

Just five minutes later, the Ghanaian scored a great goal to make it 2-0,

Nigerian forward Paul Omo Mukairu scored the opener for Anderlecht in the 27th minute.

They advance to face Royal Union Sait-Gilloise in the next stage of the Cup competition.
