Leaders Karela outlast Medeama in 2-0 derby victory

Karela United retained their grip on top spot with a laboured 2-0 victory over Western regional rivals Medeama SC Sunday afternoon.

The 2020/21 Ghana Premier League match-day 11 encounter produced no goal in quite a balanced first half.

But the Passioners ensured their unblemished home record this season will be preserved with goals from strikers Diawisie Taylor and Kwame Boateng.

Taylor broke the deadlock to put Karela in front in the 62nd minute – his 9th goal this campaign.

Boateng then cushioned the lead in the 75th minute.

Medeama doubled their efforts in chasing the game but the hosts held on to win 2-0 and make it six out of six at their favourite CAM Park in Aiyinase.

The defeat leaves the Mauve and Yellows in 11th place while Karela continue their lead atop the GPL log with 21 points after 11 games.
