FIT AGAIN: Asamoah Gyan back in contention for Legon Cities

He could be in contention for the Royals when they face Inter Allies on GPL match-day 11.

After over five weeks out with injury, striker Asamoah Gyan has made good progress with a return to full training for Legon Cities.

The club-record signing has just 79 minutes of playtime from three games under his belt in the ongoing 2020/21 Ghana Premier League

Gyan has not played for the Royals since December 11 when he came on as a substitute in their 1-0 defeat to Asante Kotoko. He has since been out injured – missing five games.

Last week, head coach Bashir Hayford admitted missing Gyan’s influence and reiterated his willingness to field him even if only 20% fit.

“Asamoah Gyan complained about groin just two days to our game so the physio sidelined him again for two weeks.

“There’s no coach who will have Asamoah Gyan in his team and bench him, even if Gyan is 20% fit, I will use him.

“I can only say that hopefully, we might see him before the end of the first round,” Hayford told reporters.

The club, on Saturday, took to their socials with a post of the return-to-contention of the legendary striker:

Legon Cities secured their first win of the season last week by thrashing AshantiGold 5-2 and are chasing their second when they play guests to Inter Allies in a match-day 11 fixture at Accra Sports Stadium Sunday afternoon.
