AshantiGold coach, Milovan Cirkovic has downplayed the threat of Asante Kotoko’s Fabio Gama to his side in Sunday’s Ghana Premier League Ashanti derby at Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi.
The Brazilian playmaker has been the creative force for the Porcupine Warriors in the last four games.
Speaking ahead of the match-day 11 battle, the Serbian trainer acknowledged Gama’s quality but says Kotoko have “too many good players” to contend with than to be fixated on just making the 28-year-old ineffective.
“I know about him (Fabio Gama). He is a very good player but he is not special to get me thinking about him.
“We will be playing collectively as one team and not think about him too much. There are too many good players in the Asante Kotoko [team].
“But I believe in my team; if we play how we can, it will be good for us,” Cirkovic told Oyerepa FM.
Both AshantiGold and Kotoko head into the Ashanti derby with defeat from their last games. A win for either side – who tie on 16 points – could see them top the league.
