#FootyTransfers: $40k for Kotoko in Augustine Okrah to RS Berkane deal

Asante Kotoko will rake in $40,000 in transfer compensation once Moroccan side RS Berkane complete the signing of midfielder Augustine Okrah, Footy-Ghana.com gathers.

The 27-year-old attacker has been with the North African side for the past week to undergo a mandatory medical after the two clubs concluded negotiations.

Okrah, who rejoined his first professional club in July 2019, is reportedly in the final four months of his contract with the Porcupine Warriors and could have opted to run down the deal and leave on a free in March 2021.

According to sources, Okrah allowed Kotoko to make some cash off him by negotiating a deal with the Caf Confederation Cup winners now than later.

Kotoko, who have less bargaining power at this stage, have been able to agree to expect a $40,000 fee from RS Berkane once the deal materializes.

Augustine Okrah was first signed by Kotoko at age 17 from then Red Bull Academy. He went on to join Liberty Professionals on loan and then made a permanent switch to Bechem United where he won the GPL golden boot gong before enjoying stints with BK Hacken and then Sudan’s biggest clubs Al Merreiekh and Al Hilal.

Okrah also played for Egyptian side Smouha SC prior to joining India’s NorthEast United – a stint which got curtailed by an ACL injury after two months.
