Andre Ayew scores late as Swansea down Luton Town

Ghana’s Andre Ayew scored a minute from time to help Swansea City secure a 2-0 win over Luton Town in the English Championship Saturday.

The Swans shot themselves into the lead within two minutes when Connor Roberts saw his deflected shot hit the back of the net.

It all came from Korey Smith on the right flank, with Cullen and Ayew playing their part in the box before Roberts’ shot was deflected beyond goalkeeper James Shea.

Swansea looked full of confidence early on, and the front two of Ayew and Cullen showed signs of clicking in the final third.

But the visitors responded well and created a number of chances, with Harry Cornick, Luke Berry and George Moncur all going close before Matty Pearson was sent off midway through the second half.

And after surviving some nervy spells, Ayew’s stunning hit from just outside the box in the penultimate minute of the game sealed all three points for the Swans.

Swansea move back into the Championship’s top six courtesy of what was their fourth win in five matches on home soil.

Andre Ayew has now scored seven goals in 15 league matches this campaign.
