REVEALED: Wakaso to join Black Stars squad for Sudan visit

Midfielder Mubarak Wakaso will be joining the Black Stars camp after winning the Chinese Super League title with Jiangsu Suning on Thursday.

The enforcer was part of head coach CK Akonnor’s 23-man squad for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) doubleheader Group C qualifying games against Sudan scheduled for November 12 and 17 in Cape Coast and Khartoum respectively.

Wakaso secured permission to honour an important league-deciding fixture for his club – one which fell on the same day as the Black Stars home game with Sudan.

He played full throttle as Jiangsu Suning beat Guangzhou Evergrande 2-1 to emerge winners of the 2020 Chinese Super League.

Ghana, on the other hand, tamed Sudan 2-0 at Cape Coast thanks to a brace from skipper Andre Ayew.

Mubarak Wakaso is now expected to join the squad before the journey to Sudan for the match-day 4 game.

Ghana top Group C of the Afcon qualifying with a 100% record – 9 points and five goals without conceding.
